Georgene M. “Jeanne” Wagner, 91, Ireland
Georgene M. “Jeanne” Wagner, 91, of Ireland, died Friday, August 14, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Jasper November 16, 1928, to George and Rose (Henke) Hochgesang. She married Robert Wagner November 16, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died October 25, 1991.
Jeanne was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and its St. Anne’s Society. She enjoyed bowling and watching sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds and Purdue and Indiana University sports.
She is survived by eight sons, Steve Wagner and wife Vicky, Huntingburg, Terry Wagner and wife Brenda, Donald Wagner, Sam Wagner and wife Susan, Tom Wagner and wife Mary, and Reynold Wagner and wife Pam, all of Jasper, Ronald Wagner and wife Sarah, Ireland, and Rob Wagner and wife Christy, Westfield; one daughter, Cheryl Fromme and husband Dan, Portersville; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Wehr and Roberta “Bert” Neuhoff and husband Gilbert, all of Ireland; and two brothers, Oscar and Gilbert Hochgesang, both of Jasper.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three children, Ruth Wagner Delp, Randy Wagner, and Marsha Steckler, five sisters, Florence Kessler, Bernetta Tabeling, Carolyn Mehringer, and infants Loretta and Marie Hochgesang, and three brothers, Carl, Roman, and infant Victor Hochgesang.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church. The St. Anne’s Society will pray a rosary at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Church or to a favorite charity.
