Kenneth J. Wehr, 69, Birdseye
Kenneth J. Wehr, 69, of Birdseye, died Wednesday, August 5, at his home. He was born in Huntingburg September 29, 1950, to Joseph and Anna Marie (Buechler) Wehr.
Kenneth was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving as an aviation mechanic during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1973. He had a number of professions and was most proud of his starting, owning, and operating his own waste management company called White Oak Services. He enjoyed boating, fishing, motorcycles, and his grandchildren. He was a member of ABATE, the Birdseye Conservation Club, United States Marine Corps League, VFW, and the Ireland Historical Society.
He is survived by one daughter, Kendra Welp and husband Nathan, Washington state; two sisters, Kathryn Rinderknecht, Ireland, and Christine James, Ferdinand; and three grandchildren, Aaliyah, Henley, and Sawyer Welp, all of Washington state.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Ann Wehr, two brothers, Randolph “Randy” and Alan Wehr, and one brother-in-law, Charles Rinderknecht.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. Memorial contributions can be made to the wishes of the family or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
