Leotta O. Atkins, 94, Huntingburg
Leotta O. Atkins, 94, of Huntingburg, died Friday, July 31, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. She was born near Birdseye May 9, 1926, to Joseph S. and Anna (Brady) Ingle. She married Noah “Scott” Atkins in September of 1942. He died in 1978.
Leotta loved spending time with her family and visiting or talking by phone with a large group of nieces and nephews. She enjoyed bowling with friends, playing Bingo, gambling at Indiana casinos, and playing the lottery.
She is survived by one daughter, Anna Stanton and husband Dennis, Loogootee; one brother, Junis Ingle and wife Ida, Camby; four grandchildren, Denny Stanton and wife Jessica, Sarah Bechtel and husband Jerod, Jen Schutte and husband Adam, and Michael Stanton and wife Vanessa; three great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Larry G. Atkins; three sisters, Viola Eckert, Edna Spencer-Norman, and Violet Dillard; and four brothers, John, Albert, and Ezra Eckert and Joseph Ingle.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Burial with a graveside service will follow immediately in Birdseye Cemetery. Rev. Albert Madden will officiate.
