James L. “Jack” Lottes, 87, Loogootee
James L. “Jack” Lottes, 87, of Loogootee, died Sunday, July 19, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Daviess County November 27, 1932, to Herbert and Bertha (Mehne) Lottes. He married Jeanette Schnarr May 2, 1957, at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville. She died February 18, 1990.
Jack was a member of the U.S. Army, serving stateside during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer and did custom trucking for many area farmers and businesses. He was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served as a member of the church council. He was a member of the National Farmer’s Organization, a charter member of the Wabash Valley Association, and the Barr-Reeve School Board. He enjoyed listening to country music, watching westerns, and playing the harmonica.
He is survived by four daughters, Darlene Knepp and husband Steve, Cannelburg, Brenda Neukam and husband Keeven and Jackie Hardin and husband Rick, all of Loogootee, and Marsha Seifert and husband Kevin, Portersville; one son, Herbert Lottes and wife Donna, Loogootee; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Ziegler and husband Joe, Bloomington, and Martha Munch, Haysville,
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Lottes.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church.
