Ralph S. Hopf, 77, Ireland
Ralph S. Hopf, 77, of Ireland, died Wednesday, June 10, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born July 21, 1942, to Herbert and Ardella (Stenftenagel) Hopf. He married Carol Rae Gunselman July 3, 1965, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Ralph was a 1960 graduate of Ireland High School and a member of the U.S. National Guard. A lifetime farmer, he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, the Ireland Water Board, and the Ireland Fire Department. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Rae Hopf; two daughters, Sherri Mendel and husband Curt, Jasper, and Janet Schuetter and husband Keith, Westfield; six grandchildren, Dustin Schmitt and wife Brandi, Abby Mitchell and husband Doug, Bristinne and Nicholas Mendel, Randy Schuetter, and Kelly Baker and husband Elliot; four great-grandchildren, Zoey, Riley, Layne, and Drew; three sisters, Betty Edwards and husband Rich, Ireland, Sylvia Fleck and husband Gilbert, Ferdinand, and Marilyn Burns and husband Jerry, Jasper; and two brothers, William J. Hopf and wife Darlene and Gary Hopf and wife Kathy, all of Jasper.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Ann Wilson.
Private services will be held at Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
