Hilbert A. “Snowball” Rasche, 91, Dubois

Hilbert A. “Snowball” Rasche, 91, of Dubois, died Wednesday, June 10, at Springs Valley Meadows in French Lick. He was born in Dubois September 26, 1928, to Anthony and Clara (McGregor) Rasche. He married Mary Amos September 16, 1950. She died February 6, 2010.

Snowball was the First Mate on the Mississippi Valley Barge Line and a lifelong poultry farmer. He enjoyed his horses, mules, farming, spending time with his family, and sharing the Gospel with others.

He is survived by three daughters, Frances Floyd and husband James, Villa Hills, Kentucky, Judy Douglas and husband Louie, Dubois, and Clara House and husband Mark, Eckerty; six sons, Curt Hall and wife Mary Lou, Plainfield, John Hall and wife Sandy, Jasper, Bob Fromme and wife Elaine, Clarksville, Martin “Buddy” Rasche, St. Anthony, and Tim Rasche and wife Donna and George Rasche and wife Marilyn, all of Dubois; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by four sisters, Rosina Beck, Lorena Hackman, Verona Terwiske, and Doretha Mundy, three brothers; Bernard, Thomas, and Leroy Rasche, and one daughter-in-law, Martina Rasche.

Private funeral services will be held at the Becher Kluesner Funeral Home North Chapel in Jasper with burial following in the Haysville Community Cemetery.
