Rita A. Gress, 80, Ireland

Rita A. Gress, 89, of Ireland, died Wednesday, June 10, at her home. She was born in Jasper September 11, 1930, to Albert and Frances (Hauser) Fehribach. She married Lee A. Gress April 22, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died July 19, 2015.

Rita was a homemaker and a lifetime farmer. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and its St. Anne’s Society, a leader of the Holy Spirit Prayer Group and the Long-Term Planning Committee. She was on the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and a past member of the PTA and the CFM, and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, bible studies, and praying the rosary.

She is survived by five daughters, Carla Allbright and husband David and Becky Allbright and husband Dwain, all of Mitchell, Linda Huls and husband Gregory, Littleton, Colorado, Marg Buechler and husband Steve, Ireland, and Mary Waninger and husband David, Chrisney; five sons, Duane Gress and wife Diane, Pat Gress and wife Cindy, and Stan Gress and wife Julie, all of Ireland, Bob Gress and wife Teresa, Huntingburg, and Greg Gress, Denver Colorado; 33 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchilddren; three sisters, Jean Eck and Patsy Dunkel, both of Jasper, and Delores Johnson, Switz City; four brothers, John Fehribach, Melbourne, Florida, Joe Fehribach and wife Sandra and Tom Fehribach and wife Carole, all of Jasper, and Jim Fehribach, Haysville.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Crockett and Rosie Hopf, and one brother, Karl Fehribach. One sister, Viola Fehribach, died in infancy.

Private funeral services will be held at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
