Gerald F. “Jerry” Fickas, Sr., 74, Loogootee
Gerald F. “Jerry” Fickas, Sr., 74, of Loogootee, died Saturday, May 30, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Evansville September 19, 1945, to Hayden and Virginia (Faries) Fickas. He married Freda Bowles July 10, 1966, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Jerry was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a machinist and a truck driver most of his life. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Catholic Church and the Jasper Knights of Columbus and enjoyed fishing and restoring trucks, tractors, and cars.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Fickas; two sons, Gerald Fickas, Jr., and wife Tammy, Pekin, and Gary Fickas, Jasper; one daughter, Linda Dukes and husband Randy, Evansville; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Brenda Blume and husband Maurice, Birdseye, Sara “Becky” Little and husband Gary, Evansville, and Jeanne Neukam and husband Vince, Huntingburg; two brothers, Tommy Fickas, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Danny Fickas and wife Dolores, Owensboro, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Doris Fickas.
