Jerry Ray Blount, 82, Velpen

Jerry Ray Blount, 82, of Velpen, died Tuesday, May 19, at Cathedral Health Care in Jasper. He was born in Stendal August 27, 1937, to James and Lorene (Preston) Blount.

Jerry served in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and was a retired member of Laborer’s Local 561 Union. He enjoyed horseback riding and trading, coon hunting, and wagon train rides.

He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Kupper and husband Gabe, Winslow, Sandra Bakker and husband Dan, Ruthton, Minnesota, and Sheila Buechlein and husband Brad, Jasper; one son, Steve Blount and wife Roberta, Velpen; one brother, Donald Blount, Stendal; two sisters, Jean Eckert, Birdseye, and Carolyn Parker, Boonville; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren .

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Blount; one brother, Jimmy Blount, two sisters, Betty Caldemeyer and Joann Goodrum; and one grandson, Joshua Blount.

Private services will be held at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Cup Creek Cemetery in Pikeville. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson,.com.
