Carolyn J. Auffart, 75, Ferdinand

Carolyn J. Auffart, 75, of Ferdinand, died Friday, May 15, at her home. She was born in Jasper December 11, 1944, to Joseph and Esther (Fischer) Schroeder. She married James Auffart November 26, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died February 22, 1993.

Carolyn was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and its St. Anne’s Sodality. She was a member of Ferdinand American Legion Auxiliary Post 124, and enjoyed going to the Derby Dinner Theater and the Casinos. And she loved doing puzzles and spending time with her grandkids.

She is survived by five daughters, Denise Gaesser and husband Larry, Ferdinand, Pam Burris and husband Todd, Franklin, Lynn Auffart and Cheryl Bir and husband Chad, all of Indianapolis, and Marla Vanderbunt and husband Tucker, St. Louis; one son, Matt Auffart and wife Lori, Ferdinand; four sisters, Kate Labhart, Jasper, Rose Ann Samders and husband Harold, Reelsville, Linda Lambert and husband Dave, Evansville, and Christine Prior, Huntingburg; two brothers, James Schroeder and wife Donna, Jasper, and Charlie Schroeder and wife Ruth, Greencastle; sisters-in-law Bernetta Schroeder, Jasper, Jeanette Auffart, Ferdinand, and Sue Schroeder, Ireland; brothers- in-law Bruce Rosbottom, Santa Claus, and Joe Auffart and wife Lyra, Jasper; and 10 grandchildren, Kaylyn Gaesser, Lyndhurst, Ohio, Kendyll Gaesser, Ferdinand, Paige and Alison Bir, Indianapolis, Zach, Ava, and Maya Vanderbunt, St. Louis, and Delainey, Easton, and Leo Auffart, Ferdinand.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma Mehringer, Rebecca Schroeder, and Cindy Rosbottom, two brothers, Leroy and Ron Schroeder, and two brothers-in law, Neil Labhart and Tom Mehringer.

Funeral services at 11 a.m.Tuesday at St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
