Arthur Elmer Kapp, 76, Jasper
Arthur Elmer Kapp, 76, of Jasper, died Friday, April 10, at his home. He was born in Dubois County December 28, 1943, to Albert and Anastasia (Schneider) Kapp. He married Irene Eckert Schmalenberger November 20, 1999, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Art was a U.S. Army veteran, serving for three years in Germany. He retired after working 20 years as an electronic technician for Amusement Equipment. In retirement he and his wife opened Kapp Winery. He enjoyed the outdoors, flea markets, and making peanut brittle, BBQ sauce, jellies, and jams. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, American Legion Post 147, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, Jasper Knights of Columbus, Jasper German Club (Deutscherverein), and the Dubois County Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Kapp; two sons, Chad Kapp and wife Jennifer, Evansville, and Greg Kapp and wife Lynn, Dale; one step son, Adam Schmalenberger, Jasper, one step daughter, Amy King and husband Greg, Jasper; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Hollinden, St. Henry, Elfrieda Oeding, Ferdinand, and Lucille Kleeman, Huntingburg.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Jean Schnell, two brothers, Basil and Jim Kapp, and two siblings who died in infancy, Joan and Charles Kapp.
