Doretha R. Mundy, 97, Huntingburg
Doretha R. Mundy, 97, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday, March 25, at Legacy Living of Jasper. She was born in Dubois September 16, 1922, to Anthony and Clara (McGregor) Rasche. She married Charles “Hanger” Mundy October 11, 1944, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington.
Doretha was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and its Ladies Sodality and VFW Post 2366 Ladies Auxiliary, a charter member since 1945. She was a participant in a number of card clubs in Dubois County. She worked at General Electric in Tell City during the war efforts and after the war was a stay-at-home mom for many years. She later worked at Devine’s Department Store in Huntingburg, for the State Department of Revenue out of the Huntingburg office, and the Dubois County Health Department where she retired at the age of 80.
She is survived by one son, Ron Mundy and wife Jennifer, Hutingburg; two daughters, Coletta Wehr and husband Stan, Huntingburg, and Julie Dutchess, Jasper; one brother, Hilbert Rasche and wife Snoball, Dubois; seven grandchildren, Natalie Wehr, Indianapolis, Jennifer Meyer and husband Kurt, New Albany, Nicole (Wehr) McClain, Philip Huddleston and wife Tina, and Mark Drescher, all of Huntingburg, Faye Haygood, and husband Bob, Vincennes, and Cheryl Riggs, Omaha, Nebraska; 19 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Mundy, three brothers, Tom, Leroy, and Bernard Rasche, and three sisters, Verona Terwiske, Lorena Hackman, and Rosena Beck.
A church service will be held at a future date at St. Mary’s Church. Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com.
