Radius W. Weisman, 75, Jasper

Radius W. Weisman, 75, of Jasper, died Friday, March 20, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Boone Township July 22, 1944, to Alfred and Viola (Thimling) Weisman. He married Rebecca L. Sermersheim September 27, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Radius was a 1962 graduate of Ireland High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Purdue University. He was a member of the United States Army National Guard. He retired from the Farm Service Agency, where he served as executive director. He worked part time for Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation Service. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township, the Jasper Rifle and Gun Club, the Fraternal Order of Police, Ireland Sportsman Club, Purdue Alumni Association, and the Purdue Alumni Club of Dubois County. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Weisman; two sisters, Marlene Mann and husband John, Dubois, and Barbara Mosby and husband Jerry, Troy; two brothers, Charles Weisman and wife LaVerne, Ireland, and David Weisman and wife Susan, Boone Township; brother-in-law Richard L. Sermersheim and wife Doris, Jasper; sister-in-law Ruth Bellner and husband Ronald, Jasper; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John W. and Martin J. Weisman.

Private funeral services were held at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper followed by entombment in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com.
