Edna A. Overbeck, 99, Huntingburg

Edna A. (Peters) Overbeck, 99, of Huntingburg, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Brookside Village in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg May 20, 1920, to Edward Henry and Matilda (Vandiver) Peters. She married Maurice Edward “Bib” Overbeck August 3, 1940, in a double wedding ceremony along with her sister, Frieda and Robert Salassa, at Salem Church in Huntingburg. Bib died in 2010.

Edna was a graduate of Huntingburg High School. In 1962 she and Bib moved to Carmel where she operated her own one-woman beauty shop for 20 years. Her hobbies included oil painting, weaving, demonstrating tatting at the Indiana State Fair, and playing the hammered dulcimer and Irish bodhran with her daughters.

She is survived by two daughters, Ann Fierst and husband Roger, Bloomington, and Martha Feldmeyer and husband Larry, Huntingburg; son-in-law Scott Tanner, Huntingburg; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Tanner, one sister, Frieda Salassa, and one infant grandson.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem Church. Online condolences at www.nassandson.com. Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday at the church with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery.
