Indiana Cell Phone Users Beware of New Law Headed Your Way if you are Behind the Wheel
The Indiana Senate has approved a cell phone ban while driving with just four no votes. The House had already approved the ban by an overwhelming margin.
One minor change will require one final vote but it is expected to again pass by a large majority. This bill will make Indiana the 22nd state requiring cell phone use in a vehicle only using your phone by a hands free device or when stopped outside the lane of traffic.
The Governor made passing the ban one of his legislative priorities for the 2020 legislative session. Indiana already bans texting while driving, but due to the burden of proof, it is largely seen as unenforceable.
