Anetta “Net” Houchin, 94, Jasper

Anetta “Net” Houchin, 94, of Jasper, died Friday, February 21. She was born in Huntingburg April 12, 1925, to Walter and Pearl (Spencer) Rice.

Net was a volunteer for the first Family Hospice of Dubois County and a retiree of Memorial Hospital. Following her retirement at the hospital, she spent years working in the health care profession doing private home care. She completed a multi-decade clinical study done by Nurses of Preventive Medicine for Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

She is survived by one daughter, Randalyn Clabaugh, Dubois; daughter-in-law Carrie Houchin, Huntingburg; four granddaughters, Meghan (Derek) Hasson and husband Derek, Texas, Kelleyerin Clabaugh and husband Derek, Hawaii, Margaret Houchin (Brad) Coomer, Jasper, and Lucy Rice Houchin, England, UK; and three great-grandchildren, John Casey Hasson, Jay Patrick Hasson, and Georgia Louise Coomer.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jay E. Houchin.

A private celebration of life and burial at Dale Cemetery will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dubois County Community Foundation’s Jay E.
