Carol A. Burris, 72, Birdseye

Carol A. Burris, 72, of Birdseye, died Friday, February 21, at Brookside Village in Jasper. She was born in Dubois County April 28, 1947, to Robert L. and Ardella T. (Engelhart) Stenftenagel. She married Thomas Burris September 26, 1986.

Carol worked as a telephone lineman supervisor for GTE in Jasper and was a horticulture buyer for a mail order catalog in Peoria, Illinois. She loved gardening, mushroom hunting, and helping with the Birdseye Chicken Frys, the St. Anthony Festivals, and the Birdseye Firemen’s Festivals.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Burris, Birdseye; one son, Brian Kluesner, Jasper; one step-son, Jason Burris and wife Julie, Jacksonville, Florida; four sisters, Bettye Walling and husband Jerry, Pacific, Missouri, and Linda Fuchs, Nancy Verkamp and husband Louie, and Sandy Sermersheim and husband Kevin, all of Ferdinand; and two brothers, Jim Stenftenagel and wife Ann and Ken Stenftenagel, all of St. Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ardella Burris.
