Donald L. Hopf, 83, Jasper
Donald L. Hopf, 83, of Jasper, died Thursday, February 13, at his home. He was born in Dubois County January 30, 1937, to Paul J. and Rosina (Burger) Hopf. He married Almeda Tretter April 30, 1960, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Donald served in the United States Army National Guard. He worked at Jasper Novelty and Jasper Corporation for 36 years and retired in 1999. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, VFW Post 673, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching sports and loved giving his fruits and vegetables to his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Almeda Hopf; one son, Mark Hopf and wife Terri, Newburgh; one daughter, Doris Rassel and husband Wayne, Hamilton, Ohio; one grandson,, Garrett; one sister, Mildred Oeding and husband Edgar, Jasper; and one brother, Paul A. Hopf and wife Camilla, Jasper.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Lorey, and one brother, Maurice Hopf.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with entombment following in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
