Clara Mae Schulte, 88, Jasper
Clara Mae Schulte, 88, of Jasper, died Tuesday, February 11, at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was born in Celestine April 12, 1931, to Jacob and Rosa (Eckert) Schnell. She married Charles Schulte October 19, 1954, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Clara worked at Ben Franklin in Jasper for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and its St. Anne Society, the VFW Auxiliary, and was a Tri-Kappa volunteer. She enjoyed playing golf, cards, volunteering with her husband at the Timbers and Brookside nursing homes in Jasper, and spending time with family, friends, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Schulte; three sons, Doug Schulte and wife Karen and Mike Schulte and wife Joyce, all of Jasper, and Jeff Schulte and wife Ann, Westfield; seven grandchildren, Erin Fuhs and husband Greg, Beth Krouse and husband Kasey, Sara Boehman and husband Michael, Eric Schulte and wife Erin, and Trey, Noah, and Wayne Schulte; two step-grandchildren, Eric Durcholz and wife Marisa and Kelli Huther and husband Dan; eight great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and one step-sister, Luella Bieker.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Lauren and Olivia Schulte, two brothers Ralph and Urban Schnell, one sister, Jenny Otto, one half-brother, Gilbert Schnell, two step-brothers, Louie and Leroy Sermersheim, and four step-sisters, Lillion Rucker, Lee Etta Brames, Lenore Anderson, and Mary Prechtel.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church, the CdLS Foundation, or to a favorite charity.
