Michael A. Egler, Jr., 76, Jasper
Michael A. Egler, Jr., 76, of Jasper, died Thursday, February 6, at the Linda E. White Hospice Center in Evansville. He was born in St. Anthony October 6, 1943, to Michael Sr. and Marie (Brosmer) Egler. He married Betty Batch June 26, 1965, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.
Michael was a Birdseye High School graduate and a member of the United States Army National Guard. He worked at Kimball International and Sherwin Williams. He was a member of Family Catholic Church in Jasper, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, and the Schnellville Conservation Club. He enjoyed playing softball, golf, fishing, hunting, gardening, mowing lawns, and building things; he had a love for animals, especially dogs. He was an avid sports fan and loved basketball and watching the Northeast Dubois Jeeps.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Egler; one son, Kenny Egler and wife Cathy, Jasper; one daughter, Kathy Cooper and husband Tom, Martinsville; five grandchildren, Kendra, Claire, Cameron, Darren, and Katelyn; and one brother, Charlie Egler, Jasper.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Susanne Harlen, and Rosa Lee Egler, who died in infancy.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with entombment following in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. American Legion Post 147 will conduct military graveside rites.
