Ralph Vernon Michel, 83, Huntingburg
Ralph Vernon Michel, 83, of Huntingburg, died Saturday, February 1. He was born on the family farm north of Dale March 24, 1936, to Carl and Nila (Johnson) Michel. He married Doris Carey September 5, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York.
Ralph was a 1954 graduate of Dale High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and was stationed in Germany until 1959. He was a certified public accountant employed at Buechlein and Associates CPAs. He was a member of the Jasper Kiwanis Club and was Lt. Governor of the Lincoln Division of the Indiana District of Kiwanis for 22 years. He earned many awards and was the Distinguished Lt. Governor of the Division for several years, Outstanding Lt. Governor of the District for 2 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Michel; two sons, Brian Michel and fiancé Terri, Monroe, Ohio, Evan Michel and wife Tracey, Huntingburg; one daughter, Diane Jones and husband Brian, Velpen; five grandchildren, Emily, Zachary, Alexzandra, Aidan and Jack; one brother, Gene Michel and wife Lula, Santa Claus; one sister, Barbara Hevron and husband James, Newburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews and their spouses.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Kenneth, Grant, Carl Jr., and Darrell Michel.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.
