Elaine “Lani” Cook, Jasper

Elaine “Lani” Cook, 73, of Jasper, died Tuesday at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg June 7, 1946, to Joseph and Doris (Koehler) Goodness. She married Robert “Bob” Cook December 19, 1970, at United Methodist Church in Huntingburg.

Lani was a 1964 graduate of Jasper High School, where she played flute in the band. She worked as a dental assistant, at Kimball Electronics, and at Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Tri Kappa, and the Memorial Hospital Auxilary. She enjoyed reading and watching game shows and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending winters in Florida at Siesta Key with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert “Bob” Cook; one daughter, Courtney Cooney and husband Mike, Westfield; one son, Kyle Cook and wife Brooke, Ireland; five grandchildren, Nolan and A.J. Cooney and Sophie, Finley, and James Cook; two brothers, Grayson Goodness and wife Diane, and Greg Goodness and wife Debra, all of Jasper.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, and from 8-10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Ireland. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary’s Building Fund. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with burial following at a later date.
