Dixie Ruth Pruett, 79, Topeka, Kansas
Dixie Ruth Pruett, 79, of Topeka, Kansas, died Monday, January 20, in Topeka. She was born in Dubois County March 13, 1940, to John and Margaret (Wineinger) Yokem. She married Ronald Pruett July 13, 1963, in Indianapolis
Dixie was a 1958 graduate of Jasper High School. She served in the U.S. Army and worked in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. After being discharged she worked for Western Electric Telephone Company. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Topeka and served as the director of the Topeka Family History Center.
She is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Ron Pruett; two sons, David Pruett, Arizona, and Patrick Pruett, Topeka; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, and Hailey.
Dixie was the last surviving member of her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Claire “Wimpy,” and Glenn Yokem; and two sisters, Margie Schmidt and Marilyn Phillips.
Memorial services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Topeka.
