Clara A. Wilgus, 88, Ferdinand
Clara A. Wilgus, 88, of Ferdinand, died Tuesday, January 21, at her home under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice. She was born in Troy May 12, 1931, to Erwin and Gertrude (Bergman) Lamar. She married Paul Wilgus April 11, 1953, in Troy. He died February 14, 1981.
Clara was Salutatorian of the 1949 class of Tell City High School. She was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and retired as a cook at Forest Park High School. She was a charter member of Ferdinand Home Economics Club and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, and cooking, and was an avid bird watcher.
She is survived by five daughters, Patti Bos and husband Maarten, Sarasota, Florida, Mona Elder and husband Kenny, Tell City, Terry Brinker and fiance’ Wayde Jones, Evansville, Sandy Waninger and husband Tony, Fulda, and Marci Hansen and husband Michael, Ferdinand; two sons, Rick Wilgus and wife Tonya, Evansville, and Ron Wilgus and wife Shelly, Schnellville; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Linda Lamar, Arkansas; brother-in-law Charlie Wilgus and wife Sue, Tell City; several nieces and nephews; and caregivers Ruth Sickbert, Angie Rahman, and Denise Schnell.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Wilgus, one great-grandson, Corbin Sarfos, three brothers, Albert, Marty, and Paulie Lamar, and one sister, Agnes (Bootz).
