Lowell F. Dorsam, 79, Haysville
Lowell F. Dorsam, 79, of Haysville, died Sunday, December 29, at his home. He was born in Portersville July 10, 1940, to Clispy and Leona (Sullivan) Dorsam. He married Berta Sue Harder July 28, 1960, at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville.
Lowell was a 1958 graduate of Dubois High School. He worked at Jasper Novelty and retired from Kimball Upholstery. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, where he served on the church council. He joined the Haysville Fire Department in 1964 and was active as a firefighter over 50 years. He also served as chief and assistant chief during his time on the fire department. He was a member of the Haysville Park Board, Haysville Water Board, and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. He mowed the Haysville park for over 30 years, was the Grand Marshall of the Haysville Bicentennial, and played softball in the Haysville Men’s League. He enjoyed mowing grass, gardening, watching Indiana University sports, the Indiana Pacers, NASCAR racing, his ’59 Ford, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Berta Sue Dorsam; one daughter, Cindy Vogler and husband Rick, Haysville; five sons, Scott Dorsam and Keith Dorsam and wife Cindy, all of Dubois, and Brian Dorsam and companion Kathy Zehr, Brett Dorsam and wife Christine, and Jason Dorsam, all of Haysville; 10 grandchildren, Ryan and Eric Vogler, Breann Brosmer, and MacKenzi, Evan, Trey, Quinn, Brandy, and Kinley Dorsam, and Nicole Bethel; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan Harker, Alfordsville; and one brother, Russell Dorsam, Haysville.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church.
