Jasper Reds Drop 2nd Game at Bluegrass World Series, will Face Dubois County Bombers on Friday
Louisville (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds saw their season record drop to 18-2 on the season following an 11-3 loss against the Sterling X-Press in the Bluegrass World Series. Jasper faced struggles on the offensive side of the ball as well as defensively. The Reds pitching allowed 7 walks early in the game which allowed the Colorado based Sterling X-Press team to jump out to an 8-3 lead. Jasper was able to plate 3 runs but lost several opportunities on the basepaths as 3 runners were picked off and another was called out for leaving the base too early after tagging up on a fly out. Offensively Josh Weidenbenner, Devan Franz and LaWan Rollins led Jasper with 2 hits apiece.
Jasper will close out the 2018 season on Friday as they face the Dubois County Bombers at Slugger Field with a first pitch set for 3:30pm. The last time these two teams faced off was on May 31st, 2011 in an exhibition game with the Jasper Reds picking up the 2-1 win behind a complete game from Bo Daves.
The Jasper Reds are currently 0-2 in the Bluegrass World Series following their Monday loss to the Louisville Stars and Wednesdays loss to Sterling. The Dubois County Bombers are currently 1-0 in the tournament and will face the Westchase Express on Thursday night at 7pm. The Bombers defeated the Sterling X-Press on Tuesday night to earn that win.
