Jasper Reds Hold Annual Reunion, Dubois County Bombers Fall to Henderson,

Dubois County (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds held their 26th annual reunion on Saturday at the Jaycee Clubhouse in what has turned out to be a record setting year for the Reds.    Earlier this week, Jasper set a new team record for consecutive wins to start the season by defeating the Owensboro Bombers 5-3 at Ruxer.   The Reds committed 6 errors in the game.  Bo Daves picked up his 5th win of the season while allowing 8 hits and striking out 8.   Two of the three Owensboro runs were earned which were the first two earned runs of the season given up by Daves.   Noah Luebbehusen and Jacob Lents contributed doubles to Jaspers 7 hit attack.   The Reds will return to action today (Sunday) as they host the Louisville Black Sox in a doubleheader at Ruxer Field.   First pitch is set for 3pm.

In other Dubois County sports action, the Dubois County Bombers fall to the Henderson Flash forcing a game 3 of the 1st round playoff series.   The Bombers got things started off in the first inning when John McDonald singled on a 3-2 count scoring one run.  Dubois County plated another in the 2nd inning while Henderson tied the game at two in the bottom of the third.   The Bombers took the lead in the top of the fifth inning before Henderson took the lead for good by scoring three in the bottom of the inning and it was a lead they would not relinquish.   Trailing 5-3 heading into the 9th inning, Dubois County did attempt a comeback and scored a run but it wasn’t enough as Henderson knocked off Dubois County 5-4 to force a deciding game 3 in the OVL playoffs.

Evan Sankey took the loss for Dubois County.  He surrendered five runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out two.  Nick Gonzalez led the Bombers with a 3 for 5 effort at the plate as Dubois County tallied 10 hits on the game.

The best of three first round series will wrap up tonight (Sunday) at League Stadium in Huntingburg with the winner advancing and the losing team closing out the season.
