Garden Gate Festival Rescheduled; Chamber Donates To New Market Street Park
Huntingburg (Local Sources) – One day after cancelling the main events of the sixth Annual Garden Gate Festival this weekend, including the OFS Brands Jazzed Up 5k/10k, the events have been rescheduled.
The events scheduled for this Saturday were cancelled because of forecasted inclement weather of rain all day and low temperatures.
The Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce says both events have now been rescheduled for Saturday, July 15th. All admission tickets already distributed will be honored for the rescheduled date, which coincides with the Huntingburg Merchants Sidewalk Sales.
The Chamber says it is difficult for bands to play in tomorrow’s forecasted conditions. Safety and financial concerns of the festival’s vendors and participants also prompted tomorrow’s cancellation.
The Chamber says over the years, some of the proceeds from the Garden Gate Festival have been reinvested back into the Huntingburg community. The Fourth Street Endowment has received $10,000, for example, and a check for $25,000 was presented to the Stellar Endowment-Market Street Project this morning.
The 19th annual Huntingburg Kiwanis Car Show is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning; rain or shine. It runs from 8am to 3pm. Door prizes and awards will be distributed at the event.
Meanwhile, this morning (Friday), Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner accepted a check for $25,000 from the Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Board President Al Mihaljovitz made the presentation at a special downtown ceremony (SEE PHOTO BELOW). The money will go towards the proposed Market Street Park. That area of downtown, mostly east of the Old Town Hall is the site of the Garden Gate Jazz Festival.
