City Park Smoking Ban Passes (w/AUDIO)
Huntingburg (NNDC) – Smoking is no longer allowed in three of Huntingburg’s municipal parks, including City Park home to the town’s famous League Stadium.
The Huntingburg City Council voted 5-0 Tuesday night for the ban.
Mayor Denny Spinner says this is a good thing for the city…
The city’s Parks Board president Mike Fulkerson, a former smoker himself says he understands the rights of smokers, but public support for the ban was “overwhelming.”
City Park is also home to Huntingburg’s annual Herbstfest each September. The other two city parks are Niehaus Park on West Sixth Street, home to the city’s municipal driving range, and Southside Park off Southside Drive.
The ban will be in effect when two new parks now in the planning stages for 2017, open.
