Damian J. Schepers, 85, Jasper

damian-schepersDamian J. Schepers, 85, of Jasper, died Thursday (December 22) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Celestine June 24, 1931, to Raymond and Theresia (Seger) Schepers.

Damian graduated high school from St. Meinrad Archabbey. He worked at several feed mills in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Georgia, and was a farm supervisor at several large farms in those states. After returning to Indiana he was employed at Stens for several years as a supervisor and retired in 1996. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, and football, was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. He liked family gatherings and visiting relatives.

He is survived by one brother, Ray Schepers and wife Doris, Jasper; and 18 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Marcus, Elmer, Edgar, Thomas, and Jerome Schepers, and two sisters, Clara Mae Streigel and Mary Mary Lou Schepers, who died in infancy.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Celestine Church in Celestine. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, St. Celestine Church, or to a favorite charity. Condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Celestine Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
