Halfway Home! VU Men, Led By Jasper Trio, Lead After Two Rounds of NJCAA National Tournament
Jamestown, NY (NNDC) – The Vincennes University Mens Golf Team extended its lead during round two of the National Junior College Athletic Association DIII National Golf Championship Tournament being played this week at the Chatauqua Golf Club in western New York State.
VU freshman, Ian Weyer (Jasper HS) shot an even par 72 on a clear but very windy day. Weyer’s 72 shared low medalist honors for the day.
As a team, Vincennes University shot 302 Wednesday, the second round of the four-round tournament which was a shot better than the 301 the team carded during Tuesday’s first round.
Sophomore Jacob Bartley (Jasper HS) carded a second round of 74 to equal his first round 74. Jacob is third overall individually with a 36-hole total of 148. Ian Weyer is sixth overall individually with 150 (he carded a 78 on day one of the tournament Tuesday.
A third member of the VU team is Ian’s older brother Cameron, a sophomore. Cam’s two-day total of 159 (75-84) places him 30th overall individually.
Despite the blustery conditions Wednesday, VU actually extended its team lead over Minnesota State Community College to 13 strokes (605-618). CLICK HERE FOR TEAM RESULTS AFTER ROUND TWO
