$5000 Reward Being Offered In Burglary/Arson Case In Jasper
JASPER — A $5000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person police say burglarized a home in Jasper and then setting fire to it.
Jasper police were called to 1449 Dewey Street shortly after 4AM Sunday after a male suspect entered the home. Police say the suspect took some items from the home and then started a fire near the rear door using a accelerant before leaving.
Police says this happened while the home’s occupants sleeping at the time. JPD says the residents told officers they awoke just as the suspect was leaving the house, and were able to extinguish the fire which did minimal damage to the house.
JPD says the International Association of Arson Investigators Indiana Chapter #14, the Indiana State Fire Marshal and area property insurance companies are offering the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
Jasper Police along with the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, Indiana State Fire Marshal and Indiana State Police Evidence Technicians are working together in this investigation.
