Joint Superintendent Letter Denounces ISTEP Testing
JASPER (NNDC) – Tuesday, a letter from the superintendents of all four Dubois County school corporations was sent to parents and the media.
The letter denounces the latest ISTEP results that will be formally released over the next few weeks.
In the letter, the local superintendents say, “the educators of Dubois County believe that the results of these (ISTEP) assessments DO NOT accurately reflect the quality of teaching and learning in our schools.”
The letter is a plea from all four superintendents (Jasper’s Dr. Tracy Lorey, Southridge’s Mike Eineman, Forest Park’s Richard Allen, and Northeast Dubois’ Bill Hochgesang) asking parents to speak out about what they say is a state education system that’s needs to be changed.
The letter says students in Dubois County and Indiana are in an education system that is being influenced by “legislative agendas” in a political “tug-of-war.”
