Tennyson Mother Arrested for OWI while Son was in Vehicle

JASPER (Local Sources) – A Tennyson woman was taken into custody Monday afternoon after a State Trooper arrested her for OWI while her son was in the car with her.

At 1:02PM Trooper Brock Werne pulled over a car at Dorbett Street and 9th Street in Jasper for driving across the center line and not having a bumper. During the course of the traffic stop, Trooper Werne believed the driver, 39-year old Alicia K. McDaniel of Tennyson, was showing signs of impairment.

ISP says through the course of the investigation, Werne learned that McDaniel had been smoking methamphetamine earlier in the day.

McDaniel had been driving with her 9-year-old son in the vehicle with her. Child Protective Services was contacted to take custody of the boy at the scene. McDaniel tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana, and was transported to the Dubois County Security Center without incident.

McDaniel is charged with Neglect of a Dependent (Level 6 felony), Operating While Intoxicated – Endangering a Person (Class A misdemeanor), and Operating While Intoxicated – Controlled Substance (Class C misdemeanor).
