Kayaking and S’mores at Patoka Lake Sunday
The fun day begins at 9:30 Sunday morning at the Fisherman’s Campground Boat Ramp. Boaters can bring their kayak (or canoe) and join the naturalists for a tour of the lake, checking out an active bald eagle nest and look for bald eagles, beavers, osprey, and other wildlife. Participants are urged to bring along binoculars, cameras, preferred refreshments, and sunscreen for the two-hour journey. ‘
Sunday is National S’mores Day and Patoka Lake will celebrate with “S’mores Olympics,” beginning at one p.m. with s’mores around the campfire at the Nature Center pit. A s’mores relay race, marshmallow target practice, and marshmallow toss will follow. All of the s’mores fixins will be supplied at no cost to participants.
