Cardboard Regatta Saturday on Patoka River
JASPER (NNDC) – Final plans are being completed for the Holy Trinity Cardboard Regatta, scheduled Saturday in the Patoka River at Buehler Park Plaza Jasper. Boat checks start at 8 a.m., the races begin at 11.
Participants are designing and creating floating vessels of corrugated cardboard, using engineering genius and artistic flair. One-part glue and duct tape are allowed. The boats may not be over 20 feet in length. Using human power only, they compete in multiple races and finish with the crew still inside.
First Place prizes are awarded in both Corporte and General Entry classes. Prizes are also awarded for Most Spectacular Sinking, Engineering Spectacle, Best Theme (boat and crew), Artistic Masterpiece, Spirit Award, and Best Dressed Crew.
