Youth Meeting Held On Chalk Talk Project


FERDINAND (NNDC) – A team from the 2015 Dubois County Leadership Academy has installed a chalkboard at 18th Street Park in Ferdinand as part of its capstone project Chalk Talk.

The leadership academy is partnering with the Tri-County YMCA on how to use the chalkboard. Youths from the Y met this morning to draw their favorite memories of the summer.

The chalkboard is a free-standing, two-sided structure that has been upcycled and saved from Southridge High School after the recent remodel. It is hoped that individuals use the boards as public art that aids in community conversations and self-expression.

The city of Huntingburg has incorporated the chalkboards into its plans for Market Street Park the group is working with the city of Jasper to possibly of installing a board in Jasper.
