Patoka Lake Beach Remains Closed
According to word from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the Patoka reservoir is presenting holding 10 feet above normal summer pool. Patoka Lake Interpretive Naturalist Dan Reckelhoff says due to downstream farm fields being affected, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is only able to release a small amount of water from the dam. He adds, “The beach is likely to remain closed for the duration of the season due to flooding conditions at the lake. Currently the fishing pier at Osborn Boat Ram is also in accessible due to high waters.”
There is still a large amount of floating debris on the lake and boaters are advised to use caution when navigating the water.
