Mary Ann Jochem, 80, St. Henry
Mary Ann Jochem, 80, of St. Henry, died Tuesday (July 21) at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. She was born in Fulda August 9, 1934, in Fulda, Indiana to August and Clara (Nielander) Boehm. She married Roman Jochem June 1, 1957, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda.
Mary Ann was a member of St. Henry parish, St. Henry Christian Mothers, St. Henry Catholic Knights Of America, Ferdinand American Legion Post No. 124 Auxillary, and the Ferdinand Home Extention Club. She was a homemaker and a retired cafeteria worker at Ferdinand Elementary. She enjoyed canning, cooking, gardening, word search puzzles, embroidery, cross stitch, and her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her husband, Roman Jochem; seven daughters, Norma Stetter and husband Brian, Brookville, Ohio, Karen Vonderheide and husband Glen, St. Anthony, Charlotte Schnaus and husband Scott and Joyce Gehlhausen and husband Brian, all of Ireland, Linda Lindauer and husband Kelvin, St. Meinrad, Diana Schlachter and husband Rob, Ferdinand, and Martha Hagedorn and husband Jason, Dale; three sons, Michael Jochem and wife Lori and Patrick Jochem and wife Glennda, all of Ferdinand, and Daniel Jochem and wife Jan, St. Anthony; 28 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Claude Boehm and wife Marietta, Fulda and one sister, Marcella Lindauer, Jasper.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Corina Hildenbrand and Esther Harpenau, four brothers, Karl, Edward, Cletus, and Sylvester Boehm, and one grandson in infancy.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 7-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Henry Cemetery Fund or St. Henry Church.
