Four Injured In Dubois Crossroads Accident (VIDEO)
DUBOIS CROSSROADS (NNDC) – Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident just east of the Dubois Crossroads early Wednesday evening.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says two adults and two children were injured in the accident that happened just before 6PM along Indiana 56 less than a mile east of Indiana 545.
DCSD says an eastbound SUV driven by 57-year old Brian Baker of West Baden crossed the centerline of Indiana 56 and into the path of a car driven by 54-year old Jeannine Martin of Jasper. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles; both were taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper as were two children in Martin’s car, ages 2 and 10 months.
DCSD says the two drivers lifeflighted were later lifeflighted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville with non life-threatending injuries. The two children were treated and later released from Memorial.
DCSD says the children were properly restrained in child safety seats which officers say did lessen the severity of their injuries; both drivers were also wearing their seatbelts.
The accident does remain under investigation and charges are pending.
