Phillip R. Jeffries, 72, Ireland
Phillip R. Jeffries, 72, of Ireland, died Monday (July 20) at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Hardin County, Kentucky, April 2, 1943, to Emmett and Vira (Best) Jeffries. He married Sylvia Bickwermert January 11, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.
Phil retired from Kimball International – Jasper Corporation after 39 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, was a 1961 graduate of Ireland High School, a member of Jasper Outdoor Recreation, where he served on the board for many years, the Huntingburg YMI, and the Ireland Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Jeffries; three daughters, Shannon Eckert and partner Jeff Wildman, and Kim Mehringer and husband Jeff, all of Jasper, and Tracy Jeffries, Huntingburg; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lula Powell, Florida, and Alice Morris, Jasper; and two brothers, John Jeffries and wife Judy, Ireland, and Larry Jeffries and wife Judy, Huntingburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jeffries, three brothers, Charles, Howard, and Faurest Jeffries, one step-brother; Bob Murry, and three step-sisters, Hazel Gregory, Helen Murry, and Jeannie Wagner.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to a favorite charity.
