Carnie Arrested For Tavern Theft
JASPER (NNDC) – An amusement company worker from Kentucky has been arrested for allegedly stealing $140 from the cash register at a Jasper tavern.
Jasper police say 39-year old Bernard Johnson of Louisville was patronizing JR’s Bar on south Clay Street this past Tuesday (June 30, 2015). Video surveillance reportedly shows Johnson gaining access to the cash register while an employee stepped away.
Tavern personnel informed JPD of Johnson’s employment by an amusement company in Otwell this week for the town’s annual 4th of July celebration.
JPD says an officer and an Indiana State Police trooper went to Otwell Thursday where they located Johnson working at one of the rides. He was then taken into custody.
He is charged with a misdemeanor count of Theft.
Two Spencer County Men Arrested For O.W.I. In Huntingburg; Ferdinand
HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – 29-year old Michael Brockman of Santa Claus was arrested Thursday afternoon charged with driving under the influence.
Brockman was arrested by HPD officers who responded to a public tip about about a possible intoxicated or sleepy driver. Police pulled over the pickup truck Brockman was driving in the 700 block of Main Street (U. S. 231). Police say Brockman’s blood alcohol content was .35%.
Meanwhile, another Spencer County man was arrested late Wednesday morning charged with operating while intoxicated.
Ferdinand police say 45-year old Dale Kierstiens’ car was observed driving left of center while southbound on Maryland Street between 3rd and 1st streets shortly before 12 noon.
Police say Kierstiens’ car was then seen turning onto 1st Street and again going left of center on 1st.
FPD says Kierstiens failed a field sobriety test and then tested above the legal limit (his B.A.C. was not released).Jasper Man Turns Himself In After Warrant Issued For His Arrest
JASPER (NNDC) – A Jasper man has been arrested on a felony battery charge.
Jasper police say 20-year old Austin Powell turned himself in at the Dubois County Security Center Wednesday evening knowning a Dubois Circuit Court warrant had been issued for his arrest.
The warrant was issued as part of a Jasper Police Department investigation investigation into a June 25th battery incident that resulted in injury to a pregnant woman.
JPD says the victim in the case had a two to three-inch scrape on her arm. The victim also told police she had pain in her wrist from the alleged battery incident.
