Birdseye Man Sentenced; 18th & Final Arrest Made In “Operation Double Trouble” (with VIDEO/PHOTOS)
JASPER (From Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office) – On June 4, 2015, local law enforcement officers began serving arrest warrants for drug dealing offenses stemming from an investigation known as “Operation Double Trouble.” 10 warrants were served as part of “Round 1” of Operation Double Trouble. “Round 2” of Operation Double Trouble occurred on June 24, 2015. 7 arrest warrants were served that day as part of “Round 2.”
One warrant issued out of Spencer County remained outstanding at that time, but the 18th and final suspect in Operation Double Trouble has now been taken into custody. Charity Bratcher, 29, Owensboro, is facing four counts of Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance as Level 6 felonies, as well as one count of Unlawful Sale of Legend Drugs as a Level 6 felony, in the Spencer County Circuit Court. However, the fact that a person has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Also, another Operation Big Brother defendant, Joseph W. Christmon, 42, Birdseye, entered into a plea agreement this morning in the Dubois Superior Court. Mr. Christmon pled guilty to Dealing in Cocaine as a Class B felony. He is set to receive a 16 year prison sentence at the Indiana Department of Correction. He will also be responsible for paying a fine and court costs, as well as for the payment of $240.00 in restitution to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Community Strike Fund. Mr. Christmon is set for sentencing on July 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
In total, the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office has secured sentences of 119 years, with 101 of those years being served in jail. Only three cases remain pending as part of Operation Big Brother.
The Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office stated that it has already started its third operation of this kind and will continue to actively pursue drug dealers in Dubois County.
