Bombers Take Doubleheader At Owensboro
OWENSBORO, KY (Local Sources) – The Owensboro Oilers simultaneously opened the second half of the 2015 season and closed out June by losing both 7-inning games of a Tuesday double header to the visiting Dubois County Bombers.

The Bombers scored three runs in the top of the second inning. With one out Jacob Snodgrass singled. Alec Mueller doubled, sending Snodgrass to third base. Snodgrass scored on a RBI single from Brady Pfaadt. Devyn Newberry walked to load the bases. Daniel Johnson reached on fielder’s choice that brought Mueller but retired Newberry at second base while Pfaadt moved to third base. Morgan DePew RBI singled to drive in Pfaadt as the third run. DuBois County added one run in the top of 5th inning. With one out, Mark Giesler singled. Noah Sadler and Snodgras walked back-to-back, loading the bases. Mueller delivered a sacrifice fly to plate Geisler for the final run of the ballgame. DC starter Ryan Dills gets the win on the mound for the Bombers.
Game Two: Dubois County 8 Owensboro 3 CLICK HERE FOR BOX SCORE
The Owensboro Oilers scored first with one run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Tyler Tichenor led off with a walk. Braxton Morris singled, Tichenor held up at second base. Tichenor stole third base base, and the escaping throw trying to stop him allowed him in as Morris too second base. After one complete inning the Oilers had a 1 to 0 lead.
The Bombers tied the game with one run in the top of the 3rd inning. Cody Krumlauf singled, Nick Barrientos was hit by a pitch, and Thomas Rea walked. Just like that the bases were loaded with no outs. Krumlauf scored on a RBI single by Daniel Johnson. A foul pop out and a double play kept the game tied 1-1 at that point. However, DuBois County scored 5 runs in the top of the 4th inning to firmly take the lead.
This time Mark Giesler was hit by a pitch. Jacob Snodgrass singled Giesler over to second base. Both Giesler and Snodgrass scored as an offered bunt from Alex Ralph was thrown far enough askew that Ralph wound up on third base. Krumlauf reached on infield hit that did not allow Ralph to advance.Nick Barrientos walked, and the bases were loaded again. A strikeout later, Daniel Johnson reached on a fielder’s choice used to force Ralph out at home plate, but keeping the bases loaded.. Devyn Newberry followed with a RBI walk, scoring Krumlauf. Barrientos and Johnson scored on a 2-RBI single by Nick Gobert. DuBois County finished the frame leading Game 2 by the score 6 to 1.
Owensboro got one run back in the bottom of the 4th inning. Riley Benner led off with a double. A ground out moved him to third base. Benner scored on a RBI ground out off the bat of Conner McHugh. The score narrowed to 6 to 2.
The Bombers added one run in the top of the 5th inning. Snodgrass reached on an error. He stole second base, then moved to third base on a ground out before a wild pitch allowed his run. DuBois County’s final run came in the top of the 6th inning. With one out, Johnson singled, stole second base, then advanced to third on the throw past second base that attempted to stop him. Newberry walked and stole second base. Johnson scored on a delayed steal when a throw against Newberry went to second base. The visitors set the deficit at 8 to 2 for the final home at bat.
