Robert E. Main, 77, Dubois
Robert E. Main, 77, of Dubois, died Saturday (June 20) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Jasper February 23, 1938, to Roy and Marie (Schubel) Main. He had two marriages. His first was to Patricia Ann Ward November 17, 1966. She died March 25, 1973. His second was to Rita Fest April 6, 1981.
Robert was the street commissioner for the City of Jasper, from which retired after 20 plus years of service. He also worked as an over the road truck driver for R. L. Jefferies. He was a U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, bluegrass music, automotive repair, sightseeing the country, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Main; four daughters, Kathy Seckinger and husband Bob, Fulda, Della Green and husband Darrel, Chrisney, Brenda Coulter and husband Mike, Loogootee, and Melissa Hendrixson and husband Scott, Petersburg; six sons, Curt Begle and wife Ruth, and Gerald Begle and wife Anita, all of Ferdinand, Roy Main and wife Shelly, Ireland, Bernard Main and wife Elaine, Huntingburg, Daniel Main, Dubois, and David Main and wife Jill, Jasper; 24 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Charlotte Jenson and husband Ron, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Doug Begle, two grandchildren, Teresa Seckinger and Lexi Begle, two sisters, Connie Whittinghill and Mary Powell, and one brother, Raleigh Main.
Services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
