Amateur Radio Field Day June 27-28
JASPER (NNDC) – An Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day is scheduled from 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, in shelter house number 4 in Dubois County Park behind the 4-H fairgrounds.
The Dubois County Emergency Management Amateur Radio Operators are hosting the event, a nationwide exercise that tests the amateur radio operators’ equipment and their ability to operate under adverse condition such as those that may occur during a disaster. The exercise involves amateur radio operators throughout the United States and Canada setting up temporary stations, many using emergency power from generators, batteries, or solar power. Participants try to contact contact as many other stations as possible around the U.S., Canada, and other countries.
The public is invited to come and participate by operating the amateur radios or watching the amateurs in operation as they communicate with stations around the world.
