Imogene M. Knies, 83, Celestine
Imogene M. Knies, 83, of Celestine, died Saturday (June 6) at the Timbers of Jasper. She was born in St. Anthony May 8, 1932, to Charles and Florence (Voges) Schnell. She married Elmer Knies October 11, 1951, at St. Celestine Church. He died October 25, 2012.
Imogene worked as the bookkeeper for Ben Franklin in Jasper for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Celestine Church and its St. Ann’s Society and the Celestine Community Club. She enjoyed playing cards, needlework ,watching the St . Louis Cardinals and Indiana Pacers, and spending time with grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Bieker and husband Mark, and Cindy Knies, all of Celestine; one son, Kent Knies and wife Brenda, Celestine; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren, and one step great-great-
Grandchild; and one sister, Doris Meyer, Celestine.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Scott J. and Michael L. Knies.
Services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Celestine Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Celestine Church.
