Lillian F. Becher, 89, Huntingburg
Lillian F. Becher, 89, of Huntingburg, died Friday (May 29) at The Village of Hamilton Pointe in Newburgh. She was born in Ferdinand July 14, 1925, to Philip Schultheis, Sr. and Louise (Brockman) Schultheis. She married Cyrinus “Cy” Becher June 25, 1946, at the St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand. He died February 22, 2006.
Lillian was a homemaker and part-time cafeteria assistant at Maple Park Elementary and Southridge Middle School for 30+ years. She worked at Servel in Evansville during World War II prior to her marriage. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, and the St. Joseph’s Hospital Ladies Guild.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin Becher and wife Martha, Louisville, and Keith Becher and wife Nicole, Sevierville, Tennessee; two daughters, Lynda Provence and husband George, Evansville, and Karen Young and husband David, Spring Lake, Michigan; 10 grandchildren, Desiree Becher, Ashley Bormet and husband Dustin, , Taylor, Hunter, and Logan Custer, Leah Young, Carrie Becher and wife Christina, Lisa Wachs and husband Ryan, Jason Provence and wife Crystqal, and Jennifer Sitzman and husband Brandon; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Philip, Joseph, William, Henry, Charles and Norman Schultheis, and one sister, Matilda Braunecker.
Services at 9 a.m. (EDT) Saturday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The mass will be officiated by Fr. Joseph Ziliak. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Friday at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish vigil prayer service will be held 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
