UPDATE: The fifth suspect wanted in connection with three local burglaries has been arrested. 17-year old Savion Frye was arrested in Louisville, Kentucky Thursday at a local motel there. Jasper police say tips from the public led them to Frye’s location. He is currently being held in a Louisville jail awaiting an extradition hearing back to Dubois County.
PRIOR STORY ON THE FIRST FOUR ARRESTED
JASPER (NNDC) – A joint investigation by Jasper and Dubois County law enforcement officers has led to four people being arrested in connection with three local burglaries and police are looking for fifth suspect.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says the five are suspects in the break-in of two homes on North 550 West in Ireland this past Monday night, and Jasper police say three of the five are also charged with the break-in of a home in the 600 block of Genevieve Avenue in Jasper back on Wednesday, May 22nd.
Among the five arrested is 19-year old Gina Kieffner of Jasper. She’s charged with burglary (a Level 4 felony) and theft (a Level 6 felony) in all three break-ins.
Jasper police say a male juvenile is also charged in the Genevieve Avenue and are looking for another juvenile, a 17-year old male (Savion) for his alleged role in the break-in. Police say an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the Jasper home; some of which has been recovered.
JPD says a witness to the burglary on Genevieve Avenue told police they saw a small red four-door car drive by the residence with a female driver. JPD detective Sgt. Rick Chambers says the witnesses say they saw two male subjects get out of the car and enter the house. Chambers says the description of the car led them to Kieffner…
Kieffner was located by police at the Jasper Wal-Mart store Tuesday along with a female juvenile. Both were taken to JPD headquarters for questioning. Kieffner was eventually arrested for burglary and theft for the Genevieve Avenue break-in. JPD says a 17-year old male was later arrested for his alleged role in the burglary.
Jasper police learned Kieffner and the female juvenile with her at Wal-Mart were wanted by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department for their alleged roles in the two Ireland break-ins; a pickup truck was taken in one of break-ins.
DCSD says 18-year old Kyle Peckinpaugh of Jasper is also charged for his alleged role in the Ireland break-ins.
The fifth subject police are looking for is 17-year old Savion Frey of Jasper. He’s wanted for his alleged role in all three break-ins. Though a juvenile by age, police say Frey has already been convicted in adult court and has served time for similar crimes in the past.
DCSD says cash was taken from a safe from one of the two Ireland homes along with a pickup truck that was later found abandoned in Pike County. The owner of the second home told police they cannot determine if anything was taken from that break-in.
