Jasper Reds Win Season Opener

JASPER (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds opened their 2015 season Sunday with a double header sweep of the visiting Terre Haute Reds at the Jasper Jayvee baseball field. The Reds won on scores of 10-1 and 5-3.

Jasper pounded out 10 hits in the opener, including a triple and five doubles. Will Ray led the balanced Reds hitting with two singles. Ryan Gulledge and Chris Weikert shared the pitching, holding the visitors for three hits.

Spencer Otto’s two-out single in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 3-3 tie and put the Reds on top for good enroute to victory in the second game. Craig Schneider led Jasper’s six hit attack with a double and single. Otto and Nolan Ray shared the pitching.

The Reds see action again Thursday playing the Owensboro Oilers in Owensboro.
